Non-surgical nose reshaping
Also called: non-surgical rhinoplasty, liquid nose job, nose filler.
Non-surgical nose reshaping at Dr Munroe Clinic uses small amounts of hyaluronic acid filler to refine the line of the nose, for example to disguise a bump on the bridge, lift a tip that drops or straighten the profile. It cannot make the nose smaller, as it works by adding a small amount of volume. It may suit those looking for a change in shape rather than size, and results usually last around nine to twelve months.

what it treats.
A bump on the bridge can be disguised by placing filler above and below it so that the line appears straighter. A drooping tip can be lifted by supporting it from beneath, and a slight asymmetry can be evened out. Each adds a small amount of volume, but because the proportions change, the nose can appear smaller as it becomes more balanced.

what it doesn't treat.
Because filler adds volume, it cannot reduce the size of the nose, narrow the nostrils or change breathing. These are surgical concerns, and this will be explained at consultation if they are your main goal.
Dr Munroe's background as an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon means we are able to advise whether surgical or non-surgical options are best for you, and our concierge service means we can advise on a suitable rhinology surgeon to manage your care.
the assessment.
The nose is one of the higher-risk areas for filler. Blood vessels run close to the surface and connect with those supplying the eye, and the skin at the tip is tight, with little space for product. For this reason, very small amounts are placed deep along the midline, slowly, while the tissue is watched closely. Treatment is approached conservatively, with a review before adding more rather than placing too much in one appointment.
what happens on the day.
Following consultation, the risks and side effects are explained, consent is taken and photographs are taken for the clinical record. Numbing cream is applied, and the injections themselves usually take only a few minutes.
recovery.
Swelling for 24 to 48 hours is common, and the nose can look slightly broader for the first week. Some people bruise around the bridge and others do not. Avoid pressing on the nose while it settles.
results.
Changes are visible straight away, with the final result at two to four weeks. They typically last around nine to twelve months.
who it isn't for.
Treatment is not suitable for anyone hoping for a smaller nose, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is active skin infection. Previous surgical rhinoplasty is discussed individually, as the blood supply to the area may have changed.

common questions.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream and a slow, careful technique keep it comfortable for most people, who describe a feeling of pressure rather than pain.
Can it be reversed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if needed.
Will it affect my breathing?
No. The filler is placed on the outside of the nose, along the bridge and tip, and does not affect the airway.
